January 21 - 25, 2019

We are back at it!  This week, we will finish up new information on human and natural impact on ecosystems.

Monday

No School

Tuesday

Students will complete and turn in their Ecosystem Changes padlet.  Students will be quizzed on Wednesday over the padlet content.  Links to Quizlet and Quiziz study resources are also on the padlet.

Homework: Students may complete 10 minutes of MobyMax, Learning Blade or Legends of Learning.  Alternatively, students may write a 3, 2, 1 reflection on their in class learning.  (3 things I learned, 2 things I already knew, and 1 thing I still want to know.)  It is due Wednesday.

Wednesday
Students will complete an "Anchor Chart Review" which will revisit all of the content that we have learned since the beginning of the year.  Students will be tested tomorrow on review content as well as pre-tested on our upcoming content. When they are finished, they will work on code.org, madewithcode.com or scratch.mit.edu to continue to learn computer programming!

Homework: Students may complete 10 minutes of MobyMax, Learning Blade or Legends of Learning.  Alternatively, students may write a 8-sentence reflection on the assessment they took in class and their experience programming.  It is due Thursday.

Thursday
Students will take the Panorama Neighborhood and Wellbeing Survey that Dr. Williams has already emailed you about.

Homework: Students may complete 10 minutes of MobyMax, Learning Blade or Legends of Learning.  Alternatively, students must write an 8-sentence paragraph reflection on how they feel about their grade in class.  Their reflection must include at least one successful topic of understanding and at least one area for improvement.  It is due Friday.

Friday
Students will begin discussion on our Novel Engineering unit. We will read Island of the Blue Dolphins as an in-class book club.  The focus of our reading will be two-fold. First, as engineers, we will be identifying problems the characters encounter throughout and design solutions for those problems.  Second, we will be identifying real scenarios of natural and human impact and the interactions of organisms within ecosystems.

Homework: None on Fridays.

As always, assignments are subject to change and I will do my best to communicate those to you.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, thoughts or concerns!
