Winter Break 2.0 Ends! Parents, Students and Teachers Cheer!
I hope you were able to enjoy our unexpected break. We have been studying weather and what a great opportunity to talk about it in real life!
Tuesday – Students will play a Kahoot review game in preparation for the test on Weather. We will continue to complete a class weather tracker.
Wednesday – Students will take a test on Weather. This will be a multiple choice assessment and will cover weather vocabulary as well as concepts. We will use the class weather tracker to demonstrate a creating a weather forecast.
Monday – Students will have an opportunity to finish their menu on the topic of Weather, specifically air masses, fronts, weather instruments and forecasting. A sample can be found here. We will also complete a class weather tracker. For students who are already done, they will work in small groups to do online Jeopardy style review games in preparation for the test on Weather.
Tuesday – Students will play a Kahoot review game in preparation for the test on Weather. We will continue to complete a class weather tracker.
Thursday – Students will put together all of our new information about weather to create their own forecast! Students will receive a rubric and be asked to gather information for a US location of their choice and create a unique forecast. They may choose to work alone or in groups no larger than 4. Each student must present their own location on a weather map. ( a group with 4 members will discuss 4 locations) Presentations can be done live in class with a paper map, pre-filmed as a tv forecast, or using a powerpoint, prezi, sway, etc.
Friday – Students will present their weather forecasts to the class. Students will score other presenters and field feedback during their own presentation.
In news related to my morning enrichment class, we have been working hard on a project to imagine, design, research and create a Maker Space for our whole school to use. I am so pleased to announce that after only 2 months on Donor's Choose, we have had 2 of our lists funded! Thanks to the hard work of our kids, we will be receiving flexible seating options and tools and materials to get us on our way! We are in the process of uploading our next list of dreams and you can help! The Donor's Choose link is always at the very bottom of this email and any support would be appreciated! We are currently working on acquiring various robotics and sewing items.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments, thoughts, or concerns! I hope you have a great week!
